I find that scripting out bits and pieces of important scenes is helpful to me, so here's a vague outline of the conversation between Arfin and Manwe that sets in motion the events of the story.
arafinwe: you seek an unattainable ideal.
manwe: do i?
arafinwe: what you seek is perfection. the perfect world. a world in which there is no reason for war or strife. but i can assure you that such a thing does not exist. that it cannot exist. each world, each universe that bears life is imperfect. one cannot live and be perfect. life itself is imperfect.
manwe: i’ve made them happy. i’ve made them perfect.
arafinwe: one cannot experience the joys of the world unless they have the capacity to experience it’s sorrows. you blinded them to the sorrows of the world and in doing so have taken their ability to feel joy.
manwe: you’re wrong
arafinwe: no. i’m not.
